Following the popular trend of last year, science is still not amongst the top courses preferred by the students applying in Delhi University. The highest number of applications received till now are for BA English (Hons), BA Political Science and BA Programme . Cut-off declared by the university has solely decided the number of applications received along with the past trend. The teachers have expressed that the Cut-off should be made high for English.
The DU admission committee kept the cut off high in 2018 the reason being the high number of applicants for BA programme . The number of applications directly proportional to the cut-off declared by the university.
The highest cut off in the first list last year was for B.Com (Hons) and BA (Hons) Economics . The lowest percentage was occupied by Sanskrit by mere 70 percent in Miranda College and 71 percent at Hansraj College. BA (Hons) History, BA Economics, BA (Hons) Economics still serve as the five prominent subjects in which the number of applications are least .
BSc (Hons) in Chemistry and Mathematics was in the top five most applied courses in the year 2018, but in contrast this year Bachelor of Science courses aren’t even visible in the list of top five courses that have received the highest number of applicants.
Various science-related courses like BSc (Hons) in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Anthropology, Biological Science, Physics, Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Mathematical Science, Physical Science and Life Science are offered by the colleges in Delhi University. BCom was the second most applied course by receiving 71,505 applications in the year 2016.
