The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) dominated the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections as it won three of the four seats, while the Congress-affiliated National Students' Union of India (NSUI) bagged one. Celebrations broke out outside the counting centre in Kingsway Camp with supporters dancing to 'dhol' beats and rose petals being showered on the winners. The winners wearing garlands proceeded to the varsity's Arts Faculty, from where they will take out a victory march. One of the biggest elections in Delhi, DUSU elections has taken place on Thursday. Polling was done at 52 different centres from morning 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on 12 sept. Total voter's turnout was 39.90% out of 1.3 lakh voters. There were some EVM malfunctions too but they were corrected within a short span of time. he results were declared on 13 sept and Akshit Dahiya from ABVP is the new DUSU president.

The polls to the Delhi University Students' Union will see a woman candidate fighting for the president post from the Congress-backed NSUI after a gap of 11 years while its rival ABVP had last fielded a woman candidate in 2011. Out of the 12 candidates in fray, there are only four women in contention. National Student's Union of India's Chetna Tyagi will take on Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's Akshit Dahiya and Left-backed All India Students' Association's Damini Kain for the post of president. In 2008, the NSUI had fielded Sonia Sapra, who had lost the top post to ABVP's Nupur Sharma. Thereafter, the Congress' student outfit has not fielded any woman candidate for the president's post. Days after the DU administration had asked the ABVP to remove the bust of VD Savarkar, Bhagat and Subhas Chandra Bose installed at DU's Arts faculty, Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) president Shakti Singh has removed the busts at around 2am on Saturday. The busts of VD Savarkar, Bhagat Singh and Subhas Chandra Bose, was installed at DU's Arts Faculty on August 20. ABVP claimed that the busts were removed after the "DU administration gave assurance to ABVP that after DUSU elections, busts of freedom fighters will be re-installed following the procedure required." The ABVP added that the busts have been kept safe by the University of Delhi. Most awaited time for Delhi University students who love politics has come. Delhi University's Student Elections are held on September 12, 2019. The nomination forms along with demand draft of ₹500 will be accepted till 3:00 pm on September 4. Documents related to DUSU will be on varsity's and college's website. Nomination forms can also be downloaded from DU's official website.  Voting for morning college will be done from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm for evening colleges, date, time, venue will be announced by the varsity later. EVMs for College Students Union Election and DUSU election will be different.
