First- ever Indian University Rankings dominated by IIT’s

First ever standalone ranking of India’s higher education institutions released by a UK – headquartered think tank on Monday is dominated by The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT’s) .

‘QS India’s University Rankings’ is topped by IIT Bombay with IIT Madras (3) , Delhi (4) , Kharagpur (5) , Kanpur (6) , Roorkee (9) , and Guwahati (10) acquiring seven of the top 10 slots .

Indian Institute of Science ( IISc) in Bangalore acquired second place , with University of Hyderabad and University of Delhi among the others making a top -10 mark at seventh and eighth rank respectively .

The list is made by evaluating Indian Institutions through international and independent spheres. QS Quacquarelli Symonds says that it’s primarily a global higher education (HE) think tank dealing with and responsible for the world’s most-consulted world university rankings.

This first Indian edition of rankings is designed to provide an independent scrutiny of performance of Indian Institutions . Public Universities, Private Universities and HE Institutions or Deemed Universities are included in the rankings except Single faculty specialist institutions or single level institutions .

20 Indian Institutions receive full marks in the “Staff with PhD ” category according to the analysis ,which shows the highly- qualified faculty body that these Universities employed in order to provide the best education to the students . Nine institutions received a score between 98.4 and 100 in the research productivity indicator.

IIT Bombay , Madras , Delhi , Kharagpur , Kanpur and Delhi University relish “outstanding regard” among the approximately 43 K international employers surveyed while the most voted by 83,000+ international academics polled were IIT Bombay , IIT Delhi and IISc Bangalore.

Other standout institutions according to QS include, Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai , received highest score for the QS ‘ indicator of research impact , adjusted for faculty size . Shivaji University , Kolhapur and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Coimbatore also achieved perfect score in the indicator of faculty / student .
