According to the committee, more than 4,500 teachers are working as ad-hoc faculty in various colleges and more than half of them are women.

Professor Hansraj Suman to PTI, member of committee said that, “Women ad-hoc teachers have been facing a lot of problems as they are not entitled to maternity leaves.”

Pankaj Garg, a committee member said, “Ad-hoc teachers are appointed for four months. As of now, their situation is so bad, that some of them join work two days after delivery so that they don’t lose their jobs.”

The member also advised that if the teacher delivers at any point during the term, for the period after that, she should be given maternity leave with salary.

In this regard, the final decision will be taken by the university’s Academic and Executive Council.

The committee has also advised that ad-hoc teachers should be paid salaries during the summer and winter vacations.
