DU professor urges PM Modi over the delay in SOL UG Admission 2018

Narendra Modi, The Prime Minister of India, has currently received an application from a professor of the DU’s School of Open Learning (SOL) admission conveying about the delay in commencement of the admission process to UG courses at the institute.

Additionally, the Janmejoy Khuntia has asked PM Modi to inform the University Grants Commission and the DU to allow the admission process for BCom and BA, and Honours programmes for the academic session.

Secretary Staff Council, SOL, Janmejoy Khuntia said that In spite of being a major collaborator in the system, here at SOL, we have never been informed about this serious academic issue and the causes, thereof by the authorities concerned. We are never consulted as well to find out solutions to problems facing this great institution.

Every year, as many as 1.5 lakh aspirants take admission in SOL.

Khuntia said that most of them come from the diminished portions of the government schools/ society/ who could not get into regular colleges. Usually, the admission process starts in the month of June or beginning of July.

Further, the delay in the admission process has conceived a lot of distraction in the minds of the general public and society.

A copy of the letter had also been sent to the HRD Ministry.
