This year is the year of changes in DU . In every field the changes have come across like making maths compulsory or sports trial before cut off list etc. THE recent change which has been introduced recently is the reduction of relaxation provided to female candidates. Earlier around 10 colleges provide 3-4% relaxation to female candidates but now the this relaxation has been reduced to 1% to ensure uniformity in all colleges. This decision leads to displeasure among the girls but according to the varsity this will help in accommodating more women candidates. Now no matter what students feel the decision has been taken and is going to be implemented soon.
As we all know the admission under ECA is the top priority of the students seeking admission under DU. ECA and sports collectively amount to around 5% reservation.For ECA students have to appear for trials starting from 25 June. There will be 2 rounds constituting 75 marks and rest 25 marks will be given on the basis of certificates. This year apart from dance and music theatre is also one of the main category. Recently the DU Registration process has ended and like last year high court has given order to DU to extend the process as there are many changes this year and the varsity did n’t inform well in advance. Recently a new announcement has been made regarding the entrance test dates. The entrance will be conducted by NTA from 30 June to 6 July. The final dates will be realised on Friday by the varsity. The courses for which test will be conducted are M.PHIL ,PHD and 9 other under graduate courses. The test would of 2 hours consisting 100 marks. Each correct answer would give 4 marks and minus one will be given for every wrong answer . The question paper consists of MCQs and within 24hr answers of the same will be uploaded and if students want to challenge it then they have to do it in 48hrs. It seems that this year it is not so easy for the students to take admissions under UG courses. This year a new EWS category is introduced i.e economically weaker section of the society . Earlier in January our prime minister Mr Narender Modi announced that from this year their has been increase of 10% seats under this category. But the problem is majority of students does not have EWS certificates . The govt departments are saying that they don’t know anything about such certificates and the varsity is saying that they cant do anything in this respect.
