​Delhi University’s Provision For Physical Disabled People

Handicap doesn’t mean to  depend on someone but it means to mold all your efforts into a right shape and tackle the barriers of life.

Delhi University also have  similar ideals regarding differently disabled people .

Delhi University’s Commitment :- DU commits that it will provide all possible facilities for every kind of impairment.

DU mission is to enable all differently abled students and staff to participate  fully in the academic, intellectual, social, and cultural life .

Current  Provisions  provided :-

Currently DU have provided many provision some of them are as follows:-

1) Admission :-

It is estimated that around 300 to 350 disabled students annually apply in formal streams in different courses for admission in DU.

DU give 5% relaxation in admission process criteria for differently abled students.

2) Braille Library :- It was established in the 1950’s . Braille Library is located in the Central library of University.

University is also try to provide new technology available for braille as the braille script is produce manually.
3) Audio Book Resources Centre(ABRC) :-

This resource center provide recorded cassettes for visually imparted students. In total there are three studios in ABRC .  It is located near Braille Library.
4) Courses :- There are many courses that are beneficial for differently disabled people . Some of them are as follows.

i ) Bachelor in Physiotherapy (four and a half year course) .

ii) Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education (one year course ).

iii) B.Ed., Special Education of the Visually Impaired (one year course ).

5) Employment :-

University  ask colleges to employ different disable people as teaching and non teaching staff to support them. DU also advertise these positions to promote the social cause .

6)Physical Infrastructure :-

DU also work upon the  college’s buildings to improve the structures.

So that it can be easily accessible for differently disabled people.

Not only these provisions are there but  University is also trying to provide more and decent facilities to gear up the growth of physical disabled people.
